Matthew M. Jones obtained his PhD in Mathematics from UCL and has over twenty years of experience in higher education. He has held a number of senior academic leadership roles, leading large teams, managing change within complex educational environments, and designing and developing innovative academic programmes.

He currently serves as Director of Accreditations, overseeing the day-to-day management and strategic development of the School’s national and international accreditation processes. In this role, he works closely with senior leadership to ensure continuous enhancement, regulatory compliance, and alignment with external quality standards.

He teaches mathematics and computing, with a particular focus on equipping students in business and management with the analytical foundations required for machine learning and AI. His research centres on how students internalise mathematical ideas, especially through structured approaches to rational problem-solving. He has published in both mathematics education and pure mathematics.

Matthew is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (FIMA) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
